About the studio
The percussion studio at Huntingdon College is made up of students from across campus that include music, and non music majors. Every percussionist receives a scholorship to attend the college, and members have the opportunity to perform in the drumline with the Huntingdon Marching Scarlett and Grey, the percussion ensemble, wind ensemble, and jazz band throughout their degree.
The Drumline and Percussion Ensemble (concert) are a primary emphasis to all percussion members on a music scholorship. This includes daily rehearsals, sectionals, and regular performances throughout the school year. The percussion ensemble rehearses 3-4 times per week in anticipation for the end of the semester concert in the fall and spring. They are a hit with the crowd!
The Huntingdon College percussion program takes a comprehensive approach to developing a well rounded percussionist. Throughout the four year degree plan, percussionists who are majoring in music will receive weekly one on one, hour lessons with Mr. Mooney. The four year degree plan includes study in marimba, snare drum, timpani, accessories, world percussion and drum set.
